Can anyone please reveal UMich stats that got them in. I need some motivation since I did poorly freshman year. And therefore, I’m nervous I might not be able to get into the schools. I got 2 Cs frosh year. One in English honors and one in Regular Algebra. I also have a C in chemistry in this year, which is my sophomore year. I also did not have any grade lower than an 86 frosh year btw. Can I still get into umich if I take 2 aps and 2 honors junior year with strong test scores ECS, and GPA? Or would my bad soph and frosh grades haunt my admit chances? Any help is appreciated.
Go to the Common Data Set of each college you’re interested in and find their GPA range. If you can get your GPA on the higher end of their range you’re competitive. If it’s on the lower end or below, it’s a teach. If your GPA is solidly in the middle of their range, it’s a match.
If you are in-state and not majoring in STEM or other impacted major, it might still be worth a try as a reach school. You’ll have to get better grades going forward though.
It is best not to get hung up on one college, though, much less a highly competitive public ivy. There are a lot of colleges that can offer a similar experience but are more likely to accept you. Do some research. Give them a chance.
Even if I get my gpa very high would my frosh and soph grades still hurt me as much?
It is best to have consistently high grades all four years. An upward trend is the next best thing. This is going to be a reach school for you. You can’t change the past. Do your best going forward, put a lot of time and thought into your application, and hope for the best. Make sure to apply to several match and likely schools.
The Cs are not so much the issue. It’s you will need a higher GPA. You need to see through like naviance what students from your school get accepted with what grades and Stats. That should be telling for you
Avg LSA at Michigan is 3.9 unweighted GPA with a 32-35 Act. People with lower GPA get in, no question but something to go on
Talk to your counsler now and see if it’s a realistic school for you. This can be just one of the reach schools you apply to
Nothing wrong with that…
Also as stated. Do not fall in love with anyone school. Come up with a list that will have many options that you would love to go to.
