Can you double major in the following manner?

Suppose one is accepted to Goizueta BBA.

Can one double major in:

Business & Economics or Business & Poli Sci?

It seems like Goizueta, unlike NYU's Stern or Michigan's Ross, teach Economics under its business school.

Pretty sure you can, but I’m not sure if you can do it in 4 years. I’m pretty sure you can also major in something at the college if you are accepted into Goizueta (like English and Business)

@Linnus: I understand you can’t do it in 4 years, since you can only get accepted to Goizueta in Junior year.

Thnaks!

You probably can do it in 4 years, because my RA double majored in History and Business and he’s graduating this year (his 4th year at Emory). Also, you can apply to Goizueta as a sophmore (aka when you are a freshman) if you have enough AP credits.

It’s possible, but difficult. You may have to take some summer school and/or come in with AP/IB credits. You should start by talking with a prebusiness advisor and current students in the bschool to get an idea about what’s involved.

It may be more reasonable to get a BBA and minor in poli sci or econ.

I wouldn’t say it is difficult if you plan ahead. I remember reading some info from the business school when I was thinking of going there as a freshman… 1/4 or 1/3 of them have a major or a minor in the College. Something like that. These new Gen Ed classes (GERs) make it really easy to get those out of the way. So you can easily finish a major before getting into the business school if you want… or get within a class or two of finishing it, depending on when you figure out your major.
I don’t know many people that take longer than 4 years to graduate. There are so many double majors it makes my head spin. If you want to do Business + whatever, you can get it done and still have a fun time. You just won’t have nearly as many random elective courses as others

***I would say it ISN’T difficult if you plan ahead

(correction to my first sentence from previous post)

You can definitely double major in business and something else in the college. I am actually double-majoring in business and poli sci. You can complete the double-major in four years without coming in with AP/IB credit, however, you may have to overload a semester or two and you will be pretty restricted in the courses you have to take… as in you’ll pretty much be taking ALL GERs, B-School classes, and classes for your college major. You probably won’t have time to take classes pass/fail or “just for fun.”

Business & Econ are my top choice, and I’m probably coming IB 7 in Econ HL. (predicted) so I guess i’ll get some credit. So with math IB 7 in HL.

These should make my life a little bit easier…

Icfireball: When did you start your major (what grade) for political science and how long has it taken you to complete it?

Notice how this thread is over 2 years old and icfireball hasn’t posted on CC since last July? He/she’s probably not gonna get on anytime soon…
