Can you get into top schools with Bs??

Has anyone on here gotten into a top school (ivies, Georgetown, Chicago, northwestern, Stanford, Duke, Vanderbilt, Emory, etc.) having received Bs in high school? If so, how many and in which classes? Thanks!

probably, not everyone at those schools had a 4.0 in high school

B’s in freshman year math and French, junior year French. Into MIT, Stanford, Columbia… GPA isn’t everything.

You can look up the average entering GPAs for schools that interest you.
At Vanderbilt, for example, the average GPA for a recent entering class was 3.78UW.

Absolutely. It usually depends what you are doing outside of the classroom. If you are a columnist in your local newspaper and need hours weekly to do that, such is not a problem. They will want to see samples. If you are tinkering around to place highly in the Intel Competition and succeed, who cares about B’s? The more B’s, the more impressive have to be the reasons.
