Can you negotiate Academic Scholarships/Aid?

At one school I am just 30 points away from the next scholarship level, and I really could use the extra 3000/yr to attend there. What do you think would be help in inquiring about this, an extra rec, talking about recent accomplishments, activities? Thanks

I negotiated my scholarship money with Emory. However, I don't know if it actually worked because I haven't yet gotten my new financial aid package.

I assume you're talking about an academic scholarship with a cut-off based on test scores? If so, chances are they may not be able/willing to make an exception for you because they would have to do the same for many candidates that are in similar situations. Yet 30 points is sooo close ... if I were you, I'd take a chance and give them a call! Who knows, maybe if they see you are genuinely interested, they may be able to help you gap that $3000 by other means -- you won't know unless you try!!

Good Luck!

You'll never know unless you ask. Go for it!

It can't hurt, especially if you're really nice.
