My summer break ends August 7 and I am going to be a junior. I want to start to study for SAT now. I have bought the Kaplan SAT book 13 at Barnes and Nobles because they were out of the Blue Book. I took the first practice test and got a 1450 score.
CR: 500
Writing: 500
Math: 450
I need to improve it badly. I really want to get a 2000+ score when the actual test comes, that's why I have decided to start my studying now. I am wondering what is the best method to take to study for it. My dad said I can buy some more books for it if I need to but I can not spend too much money because my family is very poor. But they are very supportive with education. I was thinking that since I already have the Kaplan book should I just buy the Kaplan workbooks for Sat Math, Critical reading, and Writing? The price to get all three of them is about $35 on amazon which is a pretty good price to cover all the SAT subjects. I am going to use these books to study and Take 1 practice test from the kaplan book every week to mark my progress and see where I need more improvement. There are twelve practice tests so I would finish in about 3 months if everything goes according to plan. After I finish all the practice tests in the Kaplan SAT book I am going to buy the College Bored Blue Book. And take one practice test every week and try to study in between the practice tests too. After I finish that I am going to sign up for the closest SAT test and hope all goes well.
What books should I get to study the SAT subjects for improvement when I am taking the practice test in the Blue Book? I am assuming that I would have already finished the Kaplan Books I am going to use to study by then.
Also are the Kaplan SAT Prep books for the math, CR, and writing good ones I heard from many people online that they are not and a waste of time. Its good that they are cheap and affordable but i don't want to get them if they are a waste of time.
So anyways do you think this is a good plan? Can you give me advise on some changes I need to make to it or maybe tell me what you did that helped you achieve a good score on the SAT?
Thank you All
Also I have ADHD and am not medicated so it is hard for me to just go online and use resources on the computer to improve my SAT score because there is just some many distractions online. For that reason I prefer books. But if you know some really good websites online that will help a lot then tell me about it too please.

First, I advise you to pick the SAT date that you want NOW. It allows you to plan your study schedule accordingly. Plus, you might get stand-by registration if you wait too long.
Second, you should go read all of the very helpful guides located in the stickied thread. You will find them very useful. The ones that I like are silverturtle’s and the “how to do critical reading effectively (or something along those lines).”
I never used Kaplan so I can’t give you any advice there. But if you want to know, I used Princeton Review (which also has a pretty good vocabulary list) and the blue book. Those two books helped me improve my score. Make sure you go over everything that you did wrong at the end of every practice test.
The way I see it, CR requires practice, reasoning, and vocab knowledge. Math needs AL LOT of practice and a mental list of typical SAT strategies. Writing heavily depends on the knowledge of the grammar rules relating to the most common SAT writing errors.
Best of luck!

Hey- not to worry! you will eventually get your score up like everyone does! try to take your sats in oct if your a senior- and latest nov! the books i used was bb, princeton review(good explanation with practice tests), and i used mcgraw hill- which goes through each section carefully!! AND REMEMBER PRACTICE! thats what i have been doing- and im still trying to get my score to a 1900 (its hard- but its worth it) good luck!
