Can you switch into a different section, and how does one do that?

My son got all the classes he wanted but many of the sections he wanted were closed, so his schedule isn’t so great, his day starts early and ends late.

If he wants to try to switch into one of the sections that was closed during orientation, could he keep his eye on it online? If a section he prefers opens up, how would he register for it?

Thanks in advance!

He should definitely check daily to see if someone dropped a course or section he wants. My S always does this. There's a way you can register for it online and drop the unwanted one.

Thanks. Anyone know the procedure for dropping the less convenient section and adding the more desired one online before classes start?

If no current BU student on this forum responds, I suggest he post this question on the LiveJournal BUnite.

go onto www.bu.edu/studentlink and log in. go to the academics page, and click on registration. his current schedule will pop up with an option that says "reg options." have him click on this, and then click on "change section." what will happen is that each course where different sections are available will be highlighted. once he clicks on this, all of the sections for that course will be displayed. if there's a red flag next to a section, that section is full. if there is a clock next to a section, that class is not full but there's a time conflict with your son's schedule. if there is no icon next to the section, then there are seats available and no conflicts with your son's schedule. check every few hours every day, that's how i got into a yoga class.

Yes, check frequently. That's what my S says as well.

Excellent, thanks! I'll pass this onto him!

AliAngel: Is there a list of gym classes you can sign up for on-line? I can't find one anywhere and really want to register for fencing...

-The Fencing Coot66

BU has Fencing in physical education? Awesome! I'm signing up for that.

My S took ballroom dancing his first semester.

Yep! When go into the studentlink like your looking up a regular classes but you want to use the school PDP. That will list ALL of the classes. There are a lot. Have fun! I've taken aerobics, rock climbing, and yoga. All were fantastic.
