I was admitted as an LSP student for Fall 2010. After much consideration, I think I really, really want to be at NYU, even if I'll be in LSP instead of CAS, which is what I originally applied to. I have received some better scholarships from a few other comparable private schools and honors programs at public schools. However, I am willing to pay the cost for LSP with hopes of transferring out of it after 1 year instead of 2.

My question is: Can you apply to internally transfer into CAS or Gallatin after only 1 year in LSP? I know Tisch kids who were LSP'd can leave in 1 year, but can other LSP students? Also, would I be able to apply to both CAS AND Gallatin at the end of 1st semester? At CAS, I'd want to major in Politics. At Gallitan, I'd want to combine Politics, Law & Society, and Economics. I know by being in LSP, I am a "guaranteed transfer" for Fall 2012 to CAS, but how can I get to CAS or Gallitan sooner?

At the end of my senior year, I believe (if all goes well), I'll have these AP Credits (4's or 5's): AP English Language, AP English Literature, AP US History, AP European History, AP Psychology, AP Government & Politics. I also took a 3-credit Art History course at a community college last summer. Will these courses help me get out of LSP any sooner?

My point is, I LOVE NYU. I want to be there. I visited there, and I like the LSP program because I'm very much of an English/History/Humanities person. However, I know this program is more suitable for people COMPLETELY undecided. I think I am very much inclined to get a political science-y sort of degree, so I want to take classes that pursue my interests beginning sophomore year instead of waiting an ENTIRE year until junior year.

Please help me figure out how I can get out of LSP as soon as possible. It seems interesting, but I don't want to waste a valuable sophomore year at NYU. Plus, +$50k a year is a lot of money to spend when your classes are practically assigned to you.
