Can you apply ED to one school and still apply to other schools RD, just in case you don't get in ED?

the RD due dates for most colleges is after the date that ED decisions come out, so just hold off on the apps until you get your ED decision back.

i applied ed to a school but applied to rolling schools and ea to a school and got accepted months before hearing back from my ed

For some schools, you can apply ED somewhere and EA/Rolling other places.

This is an incredibly simple question that nobody has directly answered. Weird.

Yes, you can apply RD everywhere and anywhere before knowing your ED decision. You'll just have to withdraw the RD apps if you get into your ED school. I'd personally recommend holding off on the RD apps, though, cause if you get in ED then you'll save a ton of money on app fees for your other schools. But make sure teachers have recs ready just in case.

I thought that was a given, whoops. I was just letting the OP know that they could find out decisions from schools other than their ED at the same time without the decisions being binding.

actually, most schools allow you to apply EA, rolling, and RD to other schools if you're ED there... however some schools dont. I applied to Dartmouth ED and wasn't allowed to send out other apps until i heard my decision

If you apply to an Ivy or Stanford early you can't apply anywhere else (except for rolling admissions) that notifies you before January.

Don't schools look at when you applied though, would it matter to them if you were applying late, after you heard back from ED schools?
