I am fully aware that my college of choice only considers the highest score of each section of the test when admitting applicants. I do think I screwed up too much though, and I want to possibly cancel my scores.
1) I failed to complete my essay. I was in the middle of my second sentence of the conclusion when time ran out. In other words, I had an undeveloped conclusion with a big fat fragment hanging on the end.
2) I put the grid-ins in the wrong section. Granted, I went back and put them in the right section, but I did not erase the old ones (no time).
3) Since I did such ridiculous things, it adversely affected my performance elsewhere. My mind was preoccupied.

What should I do? Should I wait to see what I got and hope for better next time or cancel the scores so that they don't even exist since I know they are less than what I want/need?

One last thing: Does canceling scores look bad or is it just as if I never took the test?

Thank you very much.

I don't think that it will look bad or anything, and I think it should just be like you didn't take it.
Also, I canceled my test right after I took it(I filled out the form and stuff), but it doesn't say anything about my canceling it on my collegeboard.com account. Could it be that it wasn't canceled, or could it be that they just didn't cancel my scores yet?

Any more suggestions? I really need to know very soon. Thanks for any and all help.

Well...the essay thing doesn't matter at all. I did get my lowest score on the essay that I ended mid-sentence, but it was only one point lower than my other two essays (a 9 v. 10), and I doubt that was the factor that bumped me down. I'm not sure what happened with the Grid-In stuff...I'm don't think that will negatively affect your score, but I'm not sure. I mean, all I can really tell you is that if you really feel that you did poorly, go ahead and cancel your score. However, I think that more often than not, people are overly concerned about how they did...it probably wasn't the disaster that you thought it was.

I would cancel (bc of the grid ins, that could screw you over)...I think it willl look like you never took it. Do it quickly though!

Thanks, guys. Any other advice? I am cancelling today if no more avice.

My kid cancelled an SAT II a couple of years ago, and apparently colleges have no idea she ever took the exam.

Did anyone that canceled their scores at the test center ever check their test status online? I did, and it still says that my scores will be ready on april 2nd online.

They don't tell you until weeks later. I canceled my Bio SAT2 scores in January. I didn't get a confirmation until late February. No worries.

How am I to know that my cancellation (by fax) was received for sure?
