Didn't finish essay, should I cancel my SAT score??

On the SAT essay today I only wrote an intro, two sub-par body paragraphs, and half a sentence for my conclusion. I'm afraid that my score will be below a 6 and how that will look to colleges. Also, I don't feel confident about the reading and math sections either, especially since I was so distraught about the essay and a head-ache kicked in about half-way. If anything, I probably only improved by a few points. I plan to study hard and take it again in December. Should I just risk a crappy score and only apply to colleges that use score choice or should I cancel? All advice is appreciated, thanks!

super score will help u. no point in cancelling

If your essay examples were to the point, then I don’t think you should stress too much on it. Essays depend on how well you formulate your arguments. Also, I think its understandable that 25 minutes can sometimes be insufficient for some test takers. If you think that you REALLY screwed up your test then I guess cancelling is okay. But if I were you, I’d much rather receive scores. This would not only help you find out what areas I need to work more on, but it would also be a good decision if in case your test didn’t go as bad as you expected.

where were your scores being sent to and can you afford to send them to your selected schools if the SAT comes out better than expected? and helpful footnote. My son thought be bombed the ACT last year and his score came out about the same as his SAT. sometimes, y’all do better on these tests than you think.

Thanks everyone. I’m not sending the scores to any colleges. I’m only going to send the scores from December which is why I don’t want to keep the score from yesterday’s test, except out of curiosity. Would it hurt me a lot at schools that don’t accept score choice, like Rice and Stanford? In this case would it be better to cancel so that they don’t see the score?

yes, i think it could be issue at Rice and Stanford. i suggest getting on their websites to see what their test polices are unless you know already. also, get on their CC pages and see if you can glean the answer from them. if in doubt, since Rice adn Stanford are on your list, yeah, i actually do recomend cancelling.
