Cancelling an Overnight Stay at Harvard

Hi! So about a month ago I signed up for an overnight stay at Harvard, thinking it would be beneficial. I never got an e-mail from them explaining exactly what I was supposed to do, and about a week ago, I realized I have a conflict on the day I’d signed up for. I’ve been looking for their e-mail for the past week, but I only just found it, and the overnight stay is in four days. I want to contact admissions and tell them I can’t go, but I’m afraid that it will negatively affect my admissions chances because it’s so last minute, and because I’ve now taken up a spot and prevented someone else from going instead. Will this negatively affect my chances? Also, does anyone know what exactly happens at the overnight stay?

Go ahead and cancel it if you can’t make it. Don’t overthink. Harvard won’t hold this against you. But are you sure your other commitment can’t wait? You sound uncertain. If it can’t, then reschedule with Harvard.

At worst, the students in question will have cleaned their rooms unnecessarily.

I wouldn’t worry about canceling something that isn’t mandatory, especially since something came up and you have to cancel It really wouldn’t significantly impact your chances whether you go or not.
