I couldn't agree more with Chsvar. USNA wants the best, not the people who can just get by. Go beyond the maximums. But also remember, the CFA is not the whole application, don't fret over it. Keep practicing, lots of people here can do the 101 push-ups and sit-ups for the PRT but that didn't come without hard work.

do i get notified in the mail if i passed or failed the test?

I took the CFA twice but I was wondering which was better. I improved in some areas but got worse on others.

Test 1:

BB Throw: 79
Pull Ups: 6
Shuttle: 8.4
Sit Ups: 75
Push Ups: 44
Mile Run: 6:55

Test 2:

BB Throw: 76
Pull Ups: 10
Shuttle: 9.0
Sit Ups: 77
Push Ups: 50
Mile Run: 7:03

Either way those are decent scores. If you are accepted to any academy I garauntee your pushups will go way up real fast. The rest is arbitrary.

I'd say if you had to choose, go with the second one.

Then again, either way you passed.

I'd say the second one as well. The extra 4 pull-ups is pretty big, and hitting 50 push-ups is def a plus. Your b-ball is strong, mile time is good. Shuttle is fair. I'd go with the second one. But that's just my $0.02 :)

I got winded just reading the scores...

;)

Hahaha. Fortunately for me I have about 3 months to train before I have to take the test (at SLS) and if I don't pass then I can train a bit more and do it another 3-4 months after that!

Thanks for the input :)

Ok, well I took my test today and these were my scores. Can you tell me how you think I did and do you think it is good enough?

Basketball Throw-54 ft
Pull-ups-17
Shuttle Run-9.56 sec
Crunches-98
Push-ups-75
1 mile-6:47

In like flint ... pass I believe. The pullups are terrif, crunches too.

This is all really helpful. I'm a girl hoping to attend a US Service Academy, and the CFA is kind of intimidating. Do any of you know what it's like for someone who wants to go into the medical field through the Armed Forces?

The CFA does seem intimidating at first. When I started looking at the Naval Academy, my pull up approximation was simply a downward fall and my pushup max was around 18. After many pushups, I'm up to 76 in two minutes, so with practice ANYTHING is possible.

I know that through the Naval Academy, there are only a few billets a year for the medical field. For the class of 2008 there are ten people who recieved medical field billets according to the Admissions webpage: Common Career Choices

For the Medical Field, you may want to reconsider where you want to go for college. The Academies, are meant to develop Officers to lead men and women in the armed forces. For every Academy there is a very slim number of people chosen for medical billets. If medicine is your goal, the academies are definately not the most logical route to achieve your goal.

i just took my fitness assessment

basketball throw- 39 yards/ 117 feet
mile-6minutes 18 seconds
Pull Ups-12
Crunches-100
Push ups-50
Shuttle Run-7.12seconds

I am hoping these are good scores

If you’re female, good to go.

Either way, don’t project a lot of dates.

Jk …work on them pushups …get 4 or 5 more pull ups and you’re great to go.

I know this is all very subjective, but I took my cfa today and i was wondering if these scores were competitive:

B-Ball throw- 71.5 ft.
Pull-ups- 18
Push-ups- 64
Sit-ups- 75
Shuttle- 9.1
Mile- 7:37

Any feedback would be great.

(im a male)

Well that was enough to qualify me. So im now triple q’d with three nominations. Time to wait, wait, and wait some more!

Good luck DW! Let us know what happens!

How are these scores? (male)

mile- 6:53
pull ups-9
push ups- 53
sit ups- 75
basketball throw- 63
shuttle run- 8.6
