<p>It is just a shorter application for students that Rensselaer feels has high enough stats that they can reduce the number of questions on the application. It is just a lighter application as an incentive to get students with high enough stats (your SAT/ACT score) to apply to them.</p>
<p>I doubt it will actually help increase admissions chances, but it pretty much means that Rensselaer is interested in students with your test score.</p>
<p>Last year (2006) I applied via the Candidate's Choice Application. I would definitely recommend doing it, as it is much more fun to receive a response (and possible award notification) in January than in April. AFAIK, it won't impact your chances.</p>
<p>haha nice note at the end there! I was going to take it next semester but realized how many people say how bad that guy is so I'm taking it next summer with some guy who's known as being a great professor. I'm a first-year at RPI too...</p>
