Hey everyone,

Due to a personal situation that has come up, I no longer am able to attend Cal in the fall. To further my education, can I still attend a different UC (where I also accepted but declined thinking I was going to Cal)?

Does anyone have any experience with a situation like this? The other UCs (on the quarter system) don't start for more than a month from now, and I won't require University housing.

I appreciate any help.

1) Can the personal problem be resolved in the short-term? maybe you can look into deferring your enrollment until next semester?
“Notice to Admitted Undergraduates
If you are a new undergraduate student and would like to defer your admission to another term, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. If you wish to cancel or withdraw, please contact your college before canceling or withdrawing. If you cancel your registration, you will be required to submit a new admission application to attend a future semester.”

2) It might be possible to enroll in another UC. But first of all, you need to contact its undergraduate admissions office and see what you can do to enroll. If you’re set to attend another UC, simply cancel your SIR to Berkeley. I think you can do so by calling them or online but I suggest phone call to make sure everything is taken care of.

is there any way you will shed light on why you are not able to attend cal, the #1 public U in the country, but are still able to attend another UC? you said it was personal…but i cant imagine one single reasonable scenario in which this would be replicated in my life.

i just really hope its not because of a girlfriend or something similar

You are not able to attend Cal? Omg, I would die to transfer to Cal to be honest to you.

There is no way u can do this… i mean… ABSOLUTELY NOT!
