ok, so I was fully planning to apply for the TAG for UC Davis, have all my courses needed set to be completed by spring 2016, ANNNNND then I find out that my second english class needs to be completed by Fall 2015, when I planned to take it spring 16. There is no way that I can change my schedule, so I am just going to apply without the TAG.
I am freaking out, because it was my “Guarantee” and no longer is. My GPA is a 3.74, so I have no doubt I have the requirements to get in, just they take all the TAG students first, and I’m applying to civil engineering, a very impacted major, so I just don’t know if Davis will have the required space after all of the TAG students… any help/ suggestions??
thank you!
The TAG requirements are pretty static. You shouldn’t have been surprised at this stage. Your GPA suggests you are brighter than that.
There must an on-line course available at one of the CCs on the Quarter System.
Your 3.7 won’t mean much if you don’t have your pre-reqs nailed down.
Good luck.
Can you take a dual enrollment course at a cc to meet the requirement? You may want to ask your GC for suggestions.
@NCalRent I will have all of my pre-reqs down by the time I transfer, and the my counselor never said anything about having it done, I just noticed it when I was checking all of the requirements as I was filling out the TAG
What i’ve learned from dealing with the transfer system is to never 100% rely on your counselors for clearance, or really any other planning, requirements, whatever. Having math and english pre-reqs done by Fall 2015 is standard and kind of written everywhere, it just takes the extra time to read up on EVERYTHING. Is there any late-start classes at your school that’s being offered for that English class you need? If you really want to do the TAG and there’s a late-start English class, I would re-evaluate your schedule and do some moving around of your classes to fit it in.
