can't wait until we receive our packets!!

okay, so I don't know of their official names, but they're the ones MIT sends out early May. actually, I don't even know what comes in them... but anything from MIT = KICK ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so yeah...

a second tube would be nice

A couple of things that I am pretty sure are in there:
1. The CD with all of the i3 videos, and a book with a written description of each dorm
2. A coupon with a code that you can use to create your MIT username/email address
3. Lots of information about orientation, and maybe some info on pre-orientation programs
4. Probably some information on the Freshman Essay Evaluation

ok, what do people mean when they talk about tubes? all i got was an acceptance packet.. it came in a large white envelope..

uh, yeah, same here.

but i'm quite excited to recieve info no matter what the geometry of the container is. i just can't wait for next year to begin :p

JD22 and iostream -

People who are accepted EA get their decision in the form of a tube.

[URL="<a href="http://www.mitadmissions.org/topics/apply/the_selection_process_application_reading_committee_and_decisions/because_one_story_just_isnt_en.shtml%22%5DThis%5B/URL">http://www.mitadmissions.org/topics/apply/the_selection_process_application_reading_committee_and_decisions/because_one_story_just_isnt_en.shtml"]This[/URL</a>] blog post has a picture of Keri with her acceptance tube.

at least the confetti haha, that was good stuff. but yeah, i never even got one of those yellow cards saying they got my stuff, but i called and they said they did, so i guess theyre just waiting to send us out the new stuff? and anyone thinking about FPOP?

When I was your age... we didn't have "tubes"

haha, tis true ;) :( :)

I want my e-mail address!

I want my MIT Facebook network number to go up to 50! :D

^50??? jeez!

But anyways, I totally got my packet already!! The Residential Info packet is really nice-looking...all the dates they throw at you are kind of confusing, though.

50 networks? l0l... talk about putting yourself out there.

I just recently left my old job's network, so I'm back down to 1 (MIT ;))

oh man, i totally got my packet yesterday, theres so much stuff. and theres a sticker. :D
im excited for my username. im thinkin on pyrocide or drizzle i know alot of ppl use their regular name for it, but audrey totally sounds boring.

Just make sure it is something you won't be embarrassed having future professors and employers seeing!

Matt offers lots of good advice from himself and others on choosing your email wisely, in his latest blog entry.

yeah, mine is about as bland as it can get, but i'd rather have that then a "clever" name that backfires.

Hehe, I meant I want the number of friends in my MIT Facebook network to go up to 50 (in that all the soon-to-be-MIT-2011 people I know get their e-mails, too)!

The funny thing is.. now that I finally have the Kerberos information, I cannot for the life of me decide an appropriate yet tastefully clever account name. "kryptonsa36" amazingly just doesn't seem suitable this time around as a log-in, despite me having used it for absolutely everything else. :D

i went with the classic first letter of first name + last name

I went with first name plus last name -- exactly eight letters. Not very creative, but at least I won't outgrow it within four years.

Exactly what I did iostream.

I had that assigned as my high-school login, so it wasn't a big leap for me to do it here :)

kryptonsa-

Same here. I've used Fermion for the longest time, but I don't want to use it for my MIT ID. For one, I'm interested in both computers and physics, and Fermion would immediately give the wrong impression. My last name is 9 letters long, so no help there..

I'm probably going to try to come up with something clever that doesn't contain my name and isn't biased towards a particular major.

Hum.
