So i will be a CAP student at UTSA next year and was wondering how the whole transferring thing at the end of the year works?

Do i apply for a transfer or what? and what if i want to Apply to a College that is not part of the Auto Admit through CAP then what do i do?

You don’t apply for a transfer. After you complete your spring semester at your CAP school and your spring term grades have been posted, you request to send your final transcripts to UT Austin. From there UT will review your transcripts to make sure you’ve completed all of the requirements. If you do, you are guaranteed admission into COLA or UGS.

If you want to apply to a college that is not part of the CAP program you will be given the opportunity to let UT know during your fall semester. The admissions program will send you an email giving you all of the directions for that. There will be essays you need to send in among other things. You will be competing with many other external and internal transfers and will not be guaranteed admission into those programs. However, you must keep in mind that even if they don’t accept you into your 1st choice major, your original offer of admission into COLA or UGS will still stand, so it’s worth a shot if you intend to major outside of these programs!

I know many CAP students who were denied admission into the other programs originally, but got in through internal transfer either their spring term sophomore year or junior year. They entered undeclared, which is an option for CAP students.
