I accepted the CAP offer and will be attending UT Tyler in the fall, my plan is to go into Moody College of Communication and Major in RTF. I was wondering if there is anything other than getting a higher GPA than the required minimum which is 3.2 in order to ease my way in to this major, are there any extra steps into raising my chances into getting in? I talked to my academic advisor at UT Tyler and recommended that I should be building a portfolio. Has anyone that has done CAP made it into Moody or majored in RTF?
Hi! I’m also a CAP student at UT Tyler this year trying to transfer into RTF. I have the same question and my advisor, which I’m assuming we have the same advisor, told me to also look into talking to someone in the Moody college at Austin and talking to people in journalism at UT Tyler? I wasn’t sure about talking to people in journalism because I want to study the more creative aspects of film and cinematography, not news reports.
This type of transfer will not be automatic, it will be on competitive basis.
I would suggest to read requirements for internal transfer (OTHER FACTORS part) to get an idea what’s important.

Hi I did CAP and transferred into Moody. Basically you are competing with every other external transfer. If you get great grades (3.5 and above) you should be fine. That advisor was absolutely correct in telling you to build a portfolio. The thing that will get you in is showing interest in the field you are trying to transfer into through your resume/essays and outside activities. Best of luck!
What was your GPA at the end of the school year and what’s your major?
Any update?
@JackM82 Haven’t heard back yet, it says in mystatus that my application is “in review” so I just have to wait and see. I’ll know by June 15th though.
