Captain of JV tennis or work?

Hi everyone I'm a senior at a public HS in New Jersey.

This fall, I'll have the opportunity to be a girls tennis captain. It'll be JV, but still, it's a leadership position.

However, I got a job as a cashier in the beginning of the summer. Honestly, id rather work and have money. But if i dont do tennis, ill be losing out on the leadership role. It also might look like I'm just dropping everything because it's senior year.

If it helps, I'm looking at U Richmond, Elon, Villanova, and some others. Not ivies
Thanks!

We’d have to know the rest of your picture. At least what the other ECs are.

You’ll want to think about this: the value of the job is set by your having it and keeping it all summer. So, perhaps, if you need leadership in your ECs, tennis captain provides that. Especially if it reperesents the cap on a long-term commitment.

One other option is to see if the job can just move to weekends.

I’ve done tennis the past 2 years. Winter track as well, but I’m not doing that again this year; I kind of hate it…

I’m vice president of DECA (national marketing club) at my school, and have competed and won awards at a state level at DECA.

Have done Fall and Spring stage crew for drama productions each year.

I play violin in the orchestra.

Volunteer at a nursing home since last year

Participated in a mentoring program for teens with special needs.

Your extracurricular activities are good enough for the colleges you have listed. Congrats!

thanks guys!

I’m going to see if I can just work on the weekends.

 1. Tennis is fun!
 2. It’s only during the fall, so I’ll have the rest of the year to work.

Congrats- that’s a mature perspective. Good luck.
