So I'm probably moving to a relatively far off campus house ( about 2miles from campus), so I'm thinking about either getting a scooter or a small car ( something like a smart). I was wondering what you guys think would be a better option? The only thing making me hesitant about the car, is the damn car insurance (especially since I'm a foreigner and have no credit record etc). On the other hand, where would I park my scooter? Is there any location on campus where most people park scooters? Thanks

I love scooters! I don't actually have one but one of my brother-in-law's businesses is selling scooters. I just think they're really neat. :) I don't know if traffic gets bad in Philadelphia, but are you allowed to lane split in PA? In California, motorcycle riders are allowed to lane split, and even though it scares the crap out of everyone else, it really helps them during rush hour.

No idea to tell you the truth. But in any case, I don't think I would be riding it during rush hour. The other downside of a scooter is that my mom hates them, so I would have NO support from her.

go scooter, and then name her Sasha

I was thinking about that... but I was going with sophia, just cause it sounds more exotic and less chihuahua-like.

OK then, my attempt to rationalize it might not work. But I'm an impulsive kind of guy (and impulsive buyer) and I think the scooter is cooler. :)

I think it is cooler ( except when it is insanely cold/raining outside) too, but my main worry is where to park it ( and how safe would it be there).

in all seriousness, it might not be the best climate for a scooter

^true....on the other hand a lot of people in other countries with worse climates are used to using scooters....but yeah, I get your point. I'll definitely take it into account.
