Carnegie Mellon Freshman Schedule 2014: Insights?

Ok, so I've started planning out my schedule for the fall 2014 semester at CMU. Here it is:

21-120 Differential & Integral Calculus
70-100 Global Business
73-100 Principles of Economics
76-101 Interpretation and Argument
76-372 Topics in Journalism

I could place out of 21-120, and since I'm transferring to Tepper, I don't have to take 70-100. So, should I replace those other courses with easier courses or are those courses easy enough to boost my GPA? Current students, does this look like a feasible first semester at CMU? What are general hard classes that I could place out of if i could? should i skip differential and integral calc, and go directly to the next level and should i not take global business and take another course? thanks! :)

btw: i received a 5 on the ap calc ab exam, so i could place out of 21-120 with that score

This seems pretty good to me, though I’m sure your academic advisor could offer better input. I would take the AP credit for 21-120 and take something else though. In the grand scheme of things you’re at CMU to learn, and what you learn is ultimately what’s going to count in the real world. I wouldn’t be so concerned with your GPA that you let it dictate your schedule. Besides, if you work hard enough, there’s no reason you can’t get an A in whatever class you replace 21-120 with.
