Anyone else’s portal down?
Turnerk would you be able to share your stats? Or can you private message me. I’m wondering when accepted to the cfa what are the chances of the Admissions office giving acceptance.
I’m wondering if anyone here knows if the College of Fine Arts gives acceptance what are the chances of the Admissions office giving acceptance as well.
@singer2 if I understand correctly, if CFA accepts you your grades are barely taken into account.
the presidential scholarship and carnegie scholarship is no longer being given. it literally stopped the 2019-2020 school year. that is so frustrating.
@elenadel Idk about this, but not all can be necessarily down, since there may be server issues, or personal portal updates.
For CFA, the admit rate is highest in CMU, grades do play a role, but not as much as compared to other majors defo.
Elenadel, thank you. Do you know a student in the cfa?
@singer2 You can see specific information about each school within the CFA here: https://admission.enrollment.cmu.edu/media/W1siZiIsIjIwMTgvMDkvMjcvOTU5YjZrZW1ua19HZW5lcmFsX0ZhY3RfU2hlZXRfU2VwdGVtYmVyXzIwMThfZmluYWwucGRmIl1d/General%20Fact%20Sheet%2C%20September%202018%20final.pdf and also here: https://admission.enrollment.cmu.edu/pages/admission-fact-sheets
Thank you artdreamer
@singer2 my understanding is that if you are accepted to CFA specifically Music - you are into the university.
@singer2 no, i’m also an applicant but thats from what ive heard
The music acceptance letter indicates it is contingent on acceptance by the Admissions office after a full review of your academics. I hope you all are right as my daughter is hoping for an acceptance.
@singer2 Best of Luck, sounds promising! Luck to all receiving that Fat Letter & Tartan Swag
Applied BXA CS and MUS. Was basically accepted to CFA due to letter received as I understand and they send a recommendation to Admissions. CS unfortunately at CMU is arguably the hardest school to get into and a reach to everyone. I am qualified and meet the criteria for CS but its a role of the dice due to how competitive CS is this year. They will get positive yield if they accept me though. This program was meant for me.
@Likebikes I had a skype session with the advisor of the BCSA program, he said that you can transfer into the BCSA program if youre originally admitted into just CFA, there a process of transfer that can be done since its so hard to get into SCS AND CFA simultaneously, all you would have to do is take a few programming classes at SCS.
@Likebikes can you elaborate on the letter you got? I am curious, I also received a letter (from the advisor/co-chair of the school I’m interested in), I wonder if this is protocol for those interested in BxA (since it’s not a super common program).
Do they send any such letter for any other colleges/programs beforehand? IMO, no, but I’d like to hear others opinions and/or experiences/facts.
In UCB forum, one member said, “The only “sign” that proved to be valid last year was when ucb accidentally sent out financial aid letters(to only a few) before acceptances.”. This is different than asking for more finaid document, but just FYI.
Just got an email that decisions will be released on Saturday 3/30 at 9:00 AM EDT!
So that 8am for us. I just asked my daughter if she will get up at 8am and her response was “no because if I get rejected I won’t be able to go back st sleep”. I’m waking her up anyway lol
