"Carolina Crossroads"

Bump - No other Carolina Crossroads invitees?

My son may go.

jrzgrlmom - I'm assuming that this is now an event for Honors kids who didn't get a scholarship offer. Your's is the only response I got in two threads and I know you mentioned your S was Honors. We're waiting to see about $ at a few schools, but he will probably attend as well.

RelaxDad,
I am invited to Carolina Crossroads too. I got accepted EA and went to the first Scholarship Day. I got awarded $2,500.00. I wish I got more, but such is life. Hope this helps.

That's better than nada, powderpuff. From the looks of things, I'm assuming that the majority of CC invitees are HYP-Ivy fence-sitters (like you and our S). He has tentatively scheduled for an overnight on the night before, but we haven't booked his flight yet (we are OOS). Like many, he will wait and see what the other acceptances and aid packages have to offer.

i got it 3 times in the mail (I'm RD)

A friend of mine got invited to Carolina Crossroads, but she did not get an invite to the Honors program, and she has not gotten any scholarship money. Kind of weird... So maybe this event isn't for Honors/possible Ivy League kids? I really have no idea how they pick and choose us for these events!

My dad called the phone number on the mailing for Carolina Crossroads. Was told that only the top 20% of accepted students were invited.

That still seems off, though. I doubt all the students in the top 20% were invited- like the other events, maybe it's just a select bunch? This was the first thing other than Explore Carolina my aforementioned friend has been invited to, and while she's obviously worthy of acceptance at UNC, she's not Ivy League material. I know several people who were not invited to this event, and they were definitely "overqualified" and have already been invited to quite a few events. I can't believe they wouldn't be in the top 20%.

I got this thing in my UNC homepage...I don't think I would consider myself top 20%
