Carolina Scholars Finalist: Yea baby!!!!!!!

I got the award; $7000 a year, $28000 over 4 years, a free laptop, first choice parking anywhere on campus. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Ultimate
Congratulations to you!
Are you guaranteed the $7,000 a year or do you have to go to the interview weekend like the out of state kids?Did you know there was a laptop and parking involved?
Did they notify you by Fed Ex or by snail mail?

I am guaranteed at least $7000 a year. It says I have to go to the interview, but that's only if I want to become a Carolina Scholar, which is $10,000 a year and which I don't need because I already have much more than a full ride there. They will be payin' me. But yea, they said I need to go to the interview to get the award, which I will but it really doesn't matter to me. I'll get to miss a day of school to talk with some good ole' Southerners. I had no idea a laptop and parking was involved until I got the letter, but the letter said I get a free laptop and choice of any parking spot on campus ("am eligible for", which means "have received" as long as I go to the interview). They notified me by FEDEX overnight delivery. It was really funny because all that was in the package was an envelope, which they could have just mailed me. So I tore open the little slit and out pops a little ole' envelope, lol, made me feel really important. BTW, I live in Columbia, so that helped my chances. GO *****!!!!!

Haha, it censored C-o-c-k-s. But yeah, I got the nice little FedEx package too, UltimateFrisbee. Guess we're 2 out of the 50.

With Palmetto Fellows (which I assume you have) plus any other oddities USC wants to toss our way, we're well-established for a full ride. I read that about the laptop, too, although I'd prob buy my own still because I need a gaming one.

Anyways, congrats to you, I live in Aiken, SC by the way. So I have to drive an hour plus change.

I got it too.

The funny thing is the FedEx package. It's all sealed up, and there's 1 tiny letter inside. It wasn't even sealed, and all it contained was the 1 sheet. I'm happy though!

so the 3 of you that got it are all in state?

I think it's an in-state only scholarship. Correct me someone if I'm wrong.

ok so no one has heard of the mcnair yet... is this correct?

McNair is for out of state only, and no we haven't heard from it because we are instate.

Just curious, for everyone who got the Carolina Scholars award, what were your stats?

Congrats to all of you who have heard re: the Carolina Scholars award. My son has been accepted into the Honors Program, and USC is still his #1 choice even though he did not receive his Fed Ex letter today. :(

3 others at my school have been selected as finalists as well.

I was wondering… what type of grades and SAT scores do you need for this program and is this Chapel Hill or USC?.. If you’re out of state

Georgia93, this is a thread under University of South Carolina. Carolina scholarship is for South Carolina residents only and I’m sure you can find guidlines for applying on the USC website, it is quite thorough.
