CAS Interview??

Hey all, I just submitted my application to Cornell yesterday and I just received an email from a Cornell alumnus regarding an interview. I applied for Economics in CAS and I did not expect an interview at all!

So my question is, did anyone else had/will have an interview for CAS? And is it mandatory and if I don't go, will it hurt my chances at all? Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you!!

I doubt that it is mandatory. I think Cornell interviews for CAS are informational not necessarily evaluative because they can't interview everyone. But you should go anyway. It can't hurt and it may help. Going shows you are interested in Cornell.

I applied for CALS which doesn't have an interview either, but I was offered one and I took the chance. Like cornell75 said, it can't hurt but may help if it goes well. At the very least, it gives you a chance to ask some more questions about the school that you may not have gotten answered at information sessions/campus visits etc.

Oh and no, it's not mandatory. I believe only the Hotel school requires an interview, but I still recommend taking the interview :)

I got an interview even though I applied to CALS&HE, the interviewer was an alumni though, so it was more informational than like a serious interview (?). It never hurt to have one if it isn't required (or given) by the college, unless you do an awful job the interview will probably help most of the time.
