I just got called for an interview for the CAS. I'm excited, but I didn't think the CAS did interviews? Anyone have any advice or tips?

no worries...the CAS interviews are really chill. dress nice, come in a good mood, have a few casual questions about cornell and you'll do just fine. you'll probably really enjoy your interview...i thought mine was really interesting and i learned some cool things about cornell. but really its nothin to stress over!

Hi...im new to CC...but very interested in Cornell! Are interviews mandatory for admittance? I thought it was only required for Hotel Management. Do you recommend getting an interview? I am thinking about either applying to the College of Arts and Sciences OR the College of Human Ecology.

You mean mandatory for admissions? Obviously it would be very stupid to reject an interview. That does not make you look good.

No, i meant is it part of the application? Does everybody have to do one?

Nope, everyone doesn't do one; i didn't do one and it didn't seem to hurt my application. I was never offered one, if i was then i guess i would've had to go.

I got an interview over the phone and a friend of mine got one in person. We both live in the same town, but the interviewer who contacted me lives in a town 100+ miles away while my friend got somebody who lives in our town. Not exactly fair, and this probably speaks to amount of weight they put on interviews: very little.

cornell interviews are more for the applicant than the admission officers. i think theyre less formal than ones the other ivies conduct.

when i didnt get an interview, i was concerned so i called admissions and tried to request one and the lady clearly stated that it was just an "Alumni Contact" offered to roughly 60% of applicants and it had no effect on admissions
im pretty sure they just have it to tell you more about the school and make sure you aren't socially retarded

i got accepted to CAS even though i had no 'alumni contact'
