Has anyone been to the first orientation session? If so, how was it and how were the placement exams?

Question abt placement exams: I was told that in order to get credit from AP exams (even if you got a 4 or 5), you have to take the placement exam. So basically a placement exam would legitimize your AP score. Is this true?

do you meet with your advisor on the first day?

did you take any placement exams? if you didnt...then what did you do all day, cuz placement exams are scheduled for the whole day (i think).....

YOu meet with your advisor the first day as a group, and then you schedule your one-on-one meetings for later that day or day two. Placement exams are scheduled for day one and two. They are scheduled for different times, but there are other things to do if you are not taking test (i.e. seyup your NYU Home email, get your i.d., go to the preprofessional meetings0. they also have information sessions during those time periods where you can get information about fin.aid, commuting, campus cash, aap, and other things. point being if your not taking exams there are other things to do, but its all optional.

Yeah, I'm here right now, and there's a lot of downtime. My friends and I have just been wandering around the city, because we can go wherever we want.

so has any one actually taken any placement exams?...i just wanna kno how they are cuz i might hav to take bio nd chem which i took (the classes) a while ago so i dont remember too much...

i didnt take those exams, but according to what the advisor said, if you havent taken them in a while you might want to take intro. again, or honors, but you really dont want to go to the next level.

But don't they have to confirm it? Sure you can call and get your scores, but you won't be holding a report after the lovely phone conversation.

orientation was sooooo awesome, you probably can't even imagine how much fun you'll actually have(or at least i couldn't). They make it seem like you won't have any free time, but you definitely will. and you don't have to be in until 12:30, so you'll have at least 2 hours of free time at night.

There's a walking tour of the campus and the East Village, the orientation leaders put on a talent show, there're a bunch of workshops and presentations you can attend, and a few of your group meetings are workshop type things. It's not just placement tests, scheduling, and registration, no.
