Is it possible? I wasn't sure what I wanted to major in so I applied to CAS. I got in and now I want to change to business. Is it possible?

I’m under the impression that it is not easy, but I don’t have first hand knowledge.

You can study economics in arts and sciences, which has much overlap with the business program. You also can get a minor in business in one summer.

It is not easy ,but not impossible. A few students last year were able to change into VBS before enrolling.

Please refer to this thread from last years admissions cycle, specifically post #4&5 for some useful information. Good luck.

Thanks just sent out an e-mail to Ms. Cummings!

VSB to CAS is easy. Vice versa isn’t.

I’ve been told by VSB staff that the school considers itself understaffed as-is.

Send that e-mail to Ms. Cummings. You will retain your admission to CAS regardless. The best time to transfer is right now for you. You are on the ball.

Cudder did you hear anything yet?

I did it, Sheila is DA BOMB!! It was tough, I was relentless with emails to tons of people in admissions and business offices. Tip: Make sure they know you are committed to the decision to go with business. I’m pretty sure I just annoyed the entire admissions office to death, but hey it worked!

Good luck my fellow indecisive students!

Yo ftamanini. So did u decide where ur going next yr yet? Did u decide Nova or Richmond?

ftamanini I sent a request too but received an email saying VSB has reached enrollment capacity along with links that lead to information about doing a business minor and internal transfer which wont even be entertained until about a year from today. But unlike you I seldom sent e-mails. Just once every week to make sure they didn’t forget. I am 150% committed to the change you think I still have a shot

congrats anyways!

Just ace all of your econ and business style classes, especially calc and stat. This will greatly improve your chances of getting into VSB transfer second year from CAS. With the “Accel” VSB course it will be easy to catch up with those who start VSB in freshman year after getting accepted.

Do you really want to enter VSB? Very limited, and finance/acc dominate everything.

Send me a message with questions!

definitely transfer before school starts. if not, do core classes your first semester and try again. you’re already in, just give them no reason to say no.

VSB and engineering are what this school is known for. don’t discourage the kid not to try.
