Anyone?
Me!
@KoliInd99 are you going to accept your waiting list option?
@Zpower99 I think I will, because they even mentioned that admitted waitlisted students will also get financial aid and scholarship opportunities. In addition to that I really really like the school. Wbu?
@KoliInd99 me too! I really like their STEM atmosphere, and they are really generous about aids
Waitlisted here!
Yes, I’m going to accept the offer.
Even though the chances are below 7% according to last year’s data, I have some hope.
Hi Zoe,

@summr99T below 7%? This really brings my hope down
@Zpower99 If you take a look at Case’s Common Data Set (CDS), you’ll see that last year:
Offered place on wait list: 9,293
Number accepting place on wait list: 4,732
Accepted from list: 333
333/4732 = ~0.07
For example, in 15-16 it was 518/5,119 - 10%
In 14-15: 792/4670 - 17%
In 04-05: 151/506 - 30%
So as you can see, the number of students accepting a place on the waitlist increases, the number of students accepted off the waitlist decreases (in terms of the percentage).
Therefore, I’d expect this year’s chance to be around 5%

In the 2015-2016 CWRU CDS, I see
Offered place on wait list:9,446
Number accepting place on wait list: 5,119
Accepted from list: 518
So that is more like 10%

@bopper Yes, that is in Fall 2015, as it says in the document, and that is what I posted above.
For Fall 2016, though, the numbers are 333/4,732.
@summr99T but is their waitlist strategy different this year from past? In decision letter, it states “approximately only 3% of our applicants are invited to join the alternate list”
That seems like a very low number.
@pleasantondad
how do you know its 3%
@jiaaaeeeee it’s on d’s Decision letter! Also asked if being offered admission in January 2018 was an option. Anyone else get same alternate list letter?
Dear ,
Thank you for your application to Case Western Reserve University. The university received a record number of undergraduate applications this year, many from academically promising students like yourself. Because Case Western Reserve is a residential university that guarantees housing for all first-year students, we have been forced to be conservative in the number of acceptances we initially offer. The admission committee hopes you will accept a place on our wait list for the Class of 2021.
We are optimistic that we will be able to grant a number of acceptances to students from the wait list. Housing is guaranteed for all students who are admitted from the wait list. Need-based financial aid and scholarships will also be available for students who qualify.
All communication from Case Western Reserve regarding your wait-list status will be delivered via email, so it is important that you respond to messages from the university if you wish to remain in consideration. On April 1, we will send you an email asking if you would like to remain on the wait list. Students who respond in the affirmative will be considered if additional acceptances are granted, and students who respond in the negative or do not respond will be removed from consideration.
Oh my…I’m sorry…I wrote on wrong blog. D was Waitlisted at U of Rochester and Case.
@pleasantondad for a moment I thought different people got different waitlist letters…
So sorry!
@Zpower99, Your reply on the email is by Xavier Nieves. Did you sent it to him directly or just through admission office?
