Hi! I thought I’d create a place for those waitlisted from Case Western Reserve University to chat!

CWRU Class of 2025 Decisions
Make sure to read:
Because of the pandemic and more people applying to schools just for the sake of applying, what range in percentage would you expect to get accepted from the waiting list this year?
Personally, I think there might be a chance more people will get accepted because most people have more options since they applied to more schools. However, during this weird year of admissions idk what to predict.
The applicant portal stated average of 300 students get admitted from the waitlist. See the screenshot below which I took yesterday. I just checked the portal and it is no longer there.
@haasri2965 Last year 20% of the waitlist was admitted…but the year before that was 3% and the year before that was 0%. Who knows?
Case had waived admissions fees for a few years which encourages people to apply, but I thought they stopped doing that?
I really want to believe that more students will get accepted and I do think that will be the case, however, I also think schools are accounting for that with larger waitlist pools so I imagine the percent accepted wont be significantly better than a normal year. I hope I’m wrong though!
Yes that’s very true, for every school i know so many people that have been waitlisted. It seems that most schools are creating a larger waitlist pool. I’m just worried because this doesn’t give us any solid information to really make a decision. I mean nothing has been guaranteed this year but it’s just very stressful being in a state of limbo.
All you can do is tell them you want a place on the waitlist when offered, write a letter stating that Case if your first choice and you will attend if admitted (if that is the case)…otherwise spend time choosing a college you would otherwise attend that you have been admitted to and start getting excited about that. At the end of April, if you haven’t been admitted by Case, then accept admissions from your other school and go buy the sweatshirt. If you are subsequently admitted by Case then Woo hoo! Get a new sweatshirt.
Hey I have one more question:
How do they decide who gets off the waitlist if it’s not ranked?
Case, like all colleges, wants to form a balanced freshman class.
You don’t want 100% Biomedical Engineers, for example.
So my guess is that they look for students who would balance the class. Oh, we don’t seem to have very many English majors. Or another physics major might be good and this one wants to play tuba in the band and we could use another tuba.
hmmm so as I premed would there still be chance for me to get in because ik premed is popular at case.
What major did you want? Pre-med isn’t a major. Pre-med is a set of classes you take that are required by medical schools ( e.g., Bio, CHem, Org Chem, Physics, Calc, etc)
If you are a Bio Pre-med yes there are many…but maybe you want to be a Medical Anthropology pre-med…maybe they could use some of those.
I just checked my application summary and it seems that pre-med is a major and i put it as my first choice. My second choice major was in natural sciences. Would they maybe consider my extra curriculars to see how i’m different from other premeds?
Does anyone know when in past years people were notified that they were accepted from the waitlist?

Thank you!
Thanks!
I was just given a financial aid estimate and merit I would receive if given a spot off the waitlist, did anyone else get this? is this a good sign?
My son received the same today. I’m pretty sure from earlier emails they said they would send the aid estimate to everyone on the wait list. We were expecting he would receive a decent amount of merit aid and he received none. I’m not sure if he can withdraw from the waitlist or not, but If offered a spot, he will now decline. Good luck. I hope it works out for you!
Got the same. Not sure what it means but will keep me interested.
