Do you think that increasing my expected financial contribution will give me a chance to get out of the waitlist ? I am an international student and am asking for a lot of aid, but recently I have had a few of my family members who want to sponsor my education. Do you think it will be possible for me to update them with this information and tell them that I am willing to pay more ?
I am not sure it would help, but I can’t see where it would hurt.
I am an international student who got an email stating that in case I am accepted I will be receiving aid and today they emailed me expected financial award in case I am accepted. But It would really be a miracle if I get a place on admission from CWRU. But still, hoping for the best.
@VMA7 Good luck!
exactly. I got my safety, very, very economical college down the road. Case was a reach for me and I never thought I would get admitted. I expected a “regret to inform you” letter. However I got waitlisted followed by an amazing grant and financial aid package IF admitted. Got my hopes up. All 3 interest letters so far have been responded to instantly. I kind of feel that it may all just be a tease…unless its not?
@Ege20634 You might get admission soon. A day ago they sent me an email asking if I’m still intereseted in CWRU. I responded in a somewhat lengthy letter to the admission office, and 10 hours later I got admitted!
Wow!!
I just registered to visit CWRU next week. I have never been there. I will take your example and see what happens. Congrats btw.
@AhMesAmis The email you got was it the generic waitlist check or a separate email?
You say tease…they are not trying to tease you. They are trying to fill a diverse class and when they find they need another student they want to have you ready to know if you can afford it, so you can say “yes I would accept if admitted” or “no, this doesn’t work for me so take me off the waitlist”. They won’t know if they need another English major or tuba player or Biomed Eng type until people accept admission or decline. So they have a waitlist of people who are still interested and willing to attend if accepted.
@bopper - I say “tease” because the grant was huge. More than I have received at any other college. And because this was a reach school for me. It made me change my mind about going to another good (but not as good) school that required me to get into some serious debt. At least the letter made me re-evaluate the cost of education since my parents are not covering a dime of it. Its all on me. So its Case or a local, small public college down the road. Its a huge difference (not in cost) but in reputation and ranking. #99 Top Liberal Arts vs. #37 Nationally. Its still a good college, but no one outside Md and the collegiate sailing community has ever heard of it.
@KoliInd99 It was a separate email saying that they could, at that point, admit a few more students.
@AhMesAmis Thanks for letting me know!
Yahhhh I have also received an amazing aid package if admitted but my stats are too low to be accepted. I am really scared!!
Did everyone get estimated financial aid package???
I am not sure about everyone but I got my aid package on Wednesday. I am an international student.
Any updates???
Did anyone get the waitlist status email today???
Did any one get waitlist status email today??
@herickxz Nope.
That’s weird.
