General Comments:

I am not going to be attending this fabulous school, but I hope all of you will succeed on whatever path you take in your college life!

I think with CWRU you should also include how much “interest” you showed…e.g. did you do an on campus interview, alumni interview, etc.

.

It considers interest as important i think

Yes it is! The first thing you need to do is google “CWRU Common Data Set” and
then look in Section C7: Relative importance of each of the following academic and nonacademic factors in first-time, firstyear,degree-seeking (freshman) admission decisions.

Then look at “Level of applicant’s interest”

For CWRU you will find it is “important”

Is there a groupme for accepted students/ can someone make one and post the link?

@bigeddy123 That’s a good idea. I made one!

Ethnicity: Hispanic
Gender: Male
Income Bracket: 200+
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): none

Reflection:
Strengths: Essay, recommendation, ACT and Valedictorian
Weaknesses: Light on ECs
Why you think you were accepted: Test scores and rank
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Only been accepted so far to SMU, A&M, UT Austin.

General Comments:
My essay and recommendations were phenomenal (not trying to brag, just saying). I believe that helped a lot with the massive scholarship. Being valedictorian helped as well, and 250 hours in a peer to peer program.

Decision: Deferred

Objective:
SAT I (breakdown):
ACT (breakdown): 30. 33 E, 27 M, 30 S, 31 R
SAT II:
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.97
Weighted GPA: 4.1
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 5/299
AP (place score in parenthesis): Did not send
IB (place score in parenthesis):
Senior Year Course Load: Dual enrollment: Chemistry, College Algebra, Intro to Psych, Intro to Geography
Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): None

Subjective:
Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Lets just say, very weak. Not many ECs are even offered at my school.
Job/Work Experience:One summer in a restaurant, one month temp retail this summer, currently holding a restaurant job for 5 months.
Volunteer/Community service: Volunteered at a library, helped in an autism classroom, again, not much here.
Summer Activities: Work.
Essays (rating 1-10, details): Probably a 6/10. Very personal, just maybe not what they wanted.
Recommendations (rating 1-10, details):
Teacher Rec #1: Maybe an 8
Teacher Rec #2: Maybe a 6 or 7
Counselor Rec: 8
Additional Rec: 8
Interview: Went very well I thought. I asked lots of questions, he said I was very motivated with my academic pursuits.

Other:
Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
Intended Major: Mechanical Engineering
State (if domestic applicant): Ohio
Country (if international applicant):
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: White
Gender: F
Income Bracket: 34k
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Wasn’t accepted.

Reflection:
Strengths: I thought my class rank would have been a strength, but I guess it’s fairly average.
Weaknesses:EC and essays, definitely ACT score.
Why you think you were accepted:
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I have an inkling it may be due to my dual enrollment. There is not any "official proof I went to school this semester, for all they know, I could be selling drugs every day this semester. They want to see this semester’s grades, (all As) so I’m hoping that is the only bump that caused this. Otherwise, I’ll be heartbroken if I don’t get in after deferral. I honestly didn’t even consider being deferred, just thought of rejected or accepted.

General Comments:
This really did come as a sting to me. I showed interest, I have a decent GPA, I want to succeed, and they know it. I can only wait now. If anyone has a similar situation with the dual enrollment, let me know your opinions. Maybe I’m just not the right fit they wanted.

@onionanion I have been taking dual credit throughout my Junior and now senior year and I got in

@Jpgranier Ah, well, thanks for the reply. Maybe it wasn’t that then.

Counselor Rec: Didn’t see it but I think it will be all right because I had to provide a form discussing everything about myself.
Additional Rec: Bhangra (Indian dance) coach. Saw his recommendation, it was awesome.
