CC, help me find music

I've never been one to listen to music.
I don't even have an iPod.
I've never really searched for music that I like.

Music I think I like
Music that has meaning
No rap
No country
60s-80s period

Bands that I seem to like

The Eagles
The Beatles
The rolling stones
led zeppelin
My brother says I listen to indie music

What music would I like? What songs?

Download iTunes, and upload all of your music to iTunes. ITunes’ genius software can recommend music for you based on the music in your library.

If you like music that has meaning check out Dispatch. They play a lot of different kinds of music, all really cool stuff.

Try music-map (google it) if you’re sure about which artists you like
Try Pandora (online radio) if you’re sure about a couple of songs you like (though some bands they play are unheard-of and have only released 1 EP and are thus bad for catalogue-browsing)
Try Musicovery if you like songs of certain moods
Sometimes I just go on YouTube and randomly type in songs I’ve heard of from anywhere, even if it’s by a band I don’t think I’d check out. Sometimes I surprisingly end up liking it.

I can’t remember where I found most of my favorite artists, but it was through random hearabouts (made-up word) and then just exploration and trial and error.

Kaskade

That is all.

I already found music I like with music-map

:)

I love the Beatles and Led Zeppelin, and I like the other two as well. You might want to try the Who and the Kinks.

The Shins.

The Beatles is kind of a null point when inquiring about what kind of music one likes…my mom loves almost exclusively country music but she also likes the Beatles. Furthermore, I have friends who listen to techno, metal, oldies, etc. and they’re all Beatles fans.

found so much good music

1970s Yes and Genesis
Specifically Fragile and Close to the Edge (albums) by the former, and Foxtrot by the latter

The Backstreet Boys and N’Sync are pretty good.

Based on what you said you like, you are likely to also enjoy The Doors, The Who, maybe something by Aerosmith.
If you want more modern stuff, try Arctic Monkeys, Tha Kaiser Chiefs, The Strokes and The Fratellis. Maybe you find yourself enjoying some of them.

Plus, listen to The Clash. Best band ever.

^what lennin said. you, my friend, have good taste.

Get the album A Lesson In Romantics by Mayday Parade. The lyrics are so meaningful and the songs sound great.

You’re sooooo indie.

Check out Dave Matthews Band. I’ve listened to the acoustic version of the song Grave Digger like 5 times today. Aerosmith is always good, Queen is very iPod worthy.
