CC HEOP Interview?

The director of HEOP called me yesterday and said he wanted an interview...Im guessing this a good sign. From what i know, admissions fowards applicants to HEOP and if HEOP accepts then youre in.

1) what can i do to prepare

2) is this a good sign

A few years ago I had the pleasure of meeting Sunday Coward at an alumni event. She was involved in HEOP and took the time to explain to me some aspects about the program at Columbia. She is a kind, wonderful, helpful person and if she is the individual that you have an interview with, you should just relax and be yourself.

It is my understanding that from your previous post you are a transfer student from Fordham??
In interviewing students over the past several years for Columbia admissions I am always amazed at how students tell me how much they love Columbia and how Columbia is their first choice yet know little about the programs at the school. If any preparation can be done for an interview, particularly as a transfer student, I think it would be in the area of knowing what you are interested in, the specific programs at Columbia that you would be involved in, and most importantly your responsibility for participation in the core curriculum. You should at least know the basics of the core, what is involved, show some interest in its content, and be able to ask questions about how you would fit it all in in less time than non-transfer students.

thanks wiseowl. I have researched what field I want to study. Fordham has a similar core cirruculum that Columbia has. Practically the core at Columbia I have completed except one science. I have met with the director once (unoffcially) and we have discussed my reasons for transferring. I am guessing this interview is a formality that all HEOP prospects have to go through.

Thank you for your detailed advice!

HI MKURTI and Wise Owl. I was wondering what is the avg gpa and SAT 1/sat 2 scores need to be considered competitive for the HEOP program. I'd greatly appreciate any input.
