CC Placement Test

How will it affect my classes and registration if I took the cc placement test at the end of July? The reason is because I'm not located in CA right now but will be soon.

you probably will have a hard time getting into an english class because they fill up quickly....other than that, you likely will not have a difficult time enrolling. my cc only had assesment tests for math and english. you could enroll in other courses without those assesments (i think). do you have to pay out of state tuition? that's gonna hurt

I have a question : I also need to take those assesment tests in math and english but are you sure that we can take them whenever ? I am asking this question because I'm an international student. I guess the answer is yes and it is just a computer test.

zwip778, im sure you can take it whenever considering you can take english or math any semester so as long as you take it soon enough to pass and enroll in the class im sure your fine...but i do advise you to take them ASAP because those tests are not anything you'd really need to study for, at least english you don't.

hey to those of you who took the pre calc test is it actually material from precalc because i looked at some examples and they were so simple it was like 9/3 = ? and x-9 = 13

CC placement tests are extremely simple. Don't even worry about them yo.

Thank you very much Collegekid101 and suwaifo for your answers. I think (because I have read that) that international students have to take the math test plus an esl test instead of the english test.

Is there anyway to waive a placement test like with a high school transcript or something similar?

haha no, just cause you took pre calc in high school doesnt mean your ready for calc...you have to take the placement test to enroll.

it's worth a try....my cc lets people take the math placement exam as many times as he or she wants to (so essentially you can place as high as you want if you are willing to sit for a long time), but eng placement could only be taken once

i think if you took AP courses in high school and scored at least a 3 on them, you could get the placement test waived. i got a 5 on my Calculus AB AP test and didn't have to take the placement test at my CCC for math.

Anyone know if I can take the placement test before I've gotten my CHSPE certificate? I'd be getting it around July 25th if I pass it.

yes you can take it....i took it when i was a sophmore in hs, so i could take a summer course at the cc.....a lot of people at the cc never even finished hs
