CC to CSPoly Pomona

Hi, I'm currently a senior at high school and I'm wondering what would be the requirements to transferring to Cal State Poly Pomona from a community college. The reason why I'm taking the transferring route is due to financial issues.

What I'm looking for is the minimum classes and GPA to transfer. Thanks for any responses, please be straight-forward and give realistic goals. Also, If there are any tips on being able to transfer within a two year period. Thanks again!

Totally possible go to assist.org put your major and compare cal poly pomona with your local CC. Take those classes listed along with your GEs. Try to be as efficient with choosing your classes so you don’t stay 2+ years.

Thanks, but can you explain how to read what they give me? They gave me that list of classes with two columns. So first each row, do i have to take that course? And if that is correct, that would be 29 required courses. Thank you for the response.

I also, recently just found this out from Cal Poly Pomona website itself. Wouldn’t the golden four and three courses of math classes be the only thing required to transfer? And anything else to add to the 60 required credits?

" admission of upper division transfer students will be based on overall GPA in transferable courses, and
completion of all “Golden Four” courses with a grade of “C” or better.
The Golden Four courses consists of the following:
1. Oral Communication
2. English Composition
3. Critical Thinking
4. Quantitative Reasoning
Note: The Golden Four courses shall all have been completed by the end of the spring term in which
the student applies to the program (e.g., by the end of spring 2011 for entrance in fall 2011)
additionally, transfer applicants must have completed the equivalent of MAT 114 (Analytic Geometry and
Calculus I), MAT 115 (Analytic Geometry and Calculus II) and MAT 116 (Analytic Geometry and Calculus III)
by the end of the spring 2011 quarter."

I really don’t mean to rain on your parade but I am almost positive they took 0 transfer students last semester. My brother applied with a 3.88 got denied along with a bunch of other people. I would recommend going there either my friend will not graduate for another 4 years because everything is so over populated.
Best of luck!

Can’t find the article he sent me. So don’t quote me!

Btw where are you coming to community college?

You should take all of the courses for which comparable courses exist at your community college. If you are not able to take them, you must take them after transfer, which can delay graduation if you need to take a lot of courses to “catch up”.

However, from the list that you pasted in, it looks like your community college (which one?) is lacking sophomore level math and physics for scientists and engineers, which most community colleges do offer. You may want to see if other nearby community colleges have more of the needed courses, since those courses are essential preparation for majoring in electrical engineering.

hahaha youre doing electrical engineering too? Welcome to the club. Im finishing up my last physics and math class this quarter. And at science guy I was a transfer student that came during the spring quarter with a 3.0. Take your GEs and the courses that are listed on your post. You’ll find out that you can take chemistry and it’ll fulfill the science requirement on the green GE sheet. This can be done with other classes as well so you can be productive with choosing your classes.

Apparently that was only for business majors! My bad people!
