Hello, I go to a community college in north Carolina approaching my final 14 credits.

I hope to transfer to either UNCG or UNCC for their AFROTC program.

I did not have a good GPA while in community college, between sickness and family chaos my first year and a half, my GPA ended up utterly pitiful at a 2.2 (I failed 4 classes due to absence, and missing too much class past the drop period due to a severe dental abscess.) I am also a first generation college student, and have had to figure out everything on my own, my income level is also just barely above the federal poverty level.

although my gpa is pretty pathetic, I have been involved in our History club for 3 years (being president, SGA rep, Secretary, vice president & winning a member award 2 years).

Member of Sigma Psi for 3 years, a member of SGA for 2, I have worked 2 jobs (including helping out for free at my folk's jobs). I am also in the process of joining the Civil Air Patrol, and an active member of the Kramden institute, for 4 years.

I guess I am just wondering if I should really even apply since my GPA is so low. Some people have flat out told me its an absolute disgrace, and no school would even consider me regardless of my extra circulars . Thank you
