I am going into my second year at a Virginia cc. My high school stats were not great, but I have close to a 4.0 after my first year here. I am aware that if you transfer in as a third year student, then your high school stats play less of a role. I was, however, curious as to how much more they would look at my high school stats, especially SAT, if I tried to transfer in the spring of this year instead of waiting for the fall. Thanks.

I am also aware that admission in the spring would not qualify for the guaranteed admission...and "they," as stated above, is obviously referring to UVa.

bump this please

I transferred as a second-year and I remember them telling us that SATs mattered only a little as a second year, and almost none at all for third-years. They look less upon HS transcripts for third years, so I would assume even less for SATs. So, since you're transferring in the spring, I wouldn't worry a ton about your HS records. I definitely wouldn't re-take the SAT, and they've always strongly discouraged that it seems like.

Thanks. How much harder do you think it is to transfer in the spring vs. fall. If you get rejected in the spring, can you still get in in the fall? Does it hurt your chances at all to have previously been rejected?

You should spend some time pouring over the transfer admission website, they answer these questions as well as tons others that might spur further questions.
The spring is VERY limited (I think less than 100). If you apply and get rejected from Spring admissions, they automatically "roll over" your application to apply for Fall, unless you say not to or you never update them with transcripts. Keep them updated if this happens with new info and such. And no, they've always said it doesn't hurt, especially if you improve between admission periods. Plus, like I said, spring is very limited, and they know that.
