welcome @ OP! I, too, am a new californian, relatively speaking lol…good luck!

xe: IVC is like 10-15minutes away from Saddleback. They offer more courses throughout the year. Also, better teachers for GE classes :)

Good luck dude!

One of my roommates just moved here from Florida with the same intent as you. He plans to hang around to establish residency then continue his education.

I’ve gone to both Saddleback and currently attend IVC. I like them both, and since they’re sister schools it makes planning for transfer easier as many classes go by the same code. If you’re worried about finding classes, Santiago College, Santa Ana College, Saddleback College and OCC are all fairly close by as well. Some things to consider

I believe to qualify for TAG you must have completed all your units at a CCC.
IIRC “establishing residency” takes 1 year. The previous poster may be correct about being under age 24, but honestly I doubt your parents will be supporting you so just show that it’s being done on your own.

Actually a little B-line from the OG topic…
Since I’m going to be transferring to a UC in the Fall I’ll be moving out of my current place. I’m not trying to spam as I have no vested interest in finding someone to take my place, but I’m only paying $530/month for a room in a 4bd house in Irvine. If you’re looking for a place to live this is about as cheap as you’ll find for what it is. But I’m moving out April 31st so uh…yeah…soon.

If you’ve got any questions about the area, classes, etc feel free to ask. I’ve lived in suburban SoCal my whole life so it’s starting to get pretty damn boring…but I’m pretty sure anyone coming here from elsewhere wouldn’t have any gripes other than maybe the high cost of living.

Oh and not that you couldn’t find the info elsewhere…but some things to think about. UCLA/Venice Beach/etc ~ 1 hour away. SD ~ 1 hour away. Laguna Beach/Newport Beach/Costa Mesa ~ 20 minutes away. Big Bear ~ 2 hours away. Irvine isn’t the most exciting place to live but for those willing to seek it out, you won’t have any trouble doing so.
