I know it's been said in other threads that Cingular (now AT&T) is by far the best cellular carrier throughout the Stanford campus. Some have also said that carriers like T-mobile have no coverage at all. Say, however, I am currently in a contract with T-mobile. Will I be able to hook up to the AT&T network via my free roaming, or will my phone simply not have any service?

You won't have service. Try and get out of your contract with T-mobile. Usually, you'll have to pay a cancellation fee for violating the contract or something.

I have heard that if Verizon shows service for the area, but you aren't getting any, then you can cancel your contract without a fee. Perhaps the same is true for T-mobile and the other cell phone networks.

From what I've heard, only Cingular (AT&T) reliably gets reception on campus.

There is virtually no reception on much of campus.

If your carrier does not work there I would suggest you ask the carrier to let you out of the contract and if they don;t take them to court.

My daughter has a tmobile phone and was there for admit weekend. To use it, she had to go outside and walk around until she got a signal. She is going to change carriers before she gets there!
