I know there is no roaming charges with Sprint. We just joined modern times and ditched the tracfone (pay as you go) and got a Sprint family plan. We got in a deal that waived all activiation fees (still awaiting the reimbursement, anyway and also waiting for the rebate on the phones. So the initial cash outlay hurt but will be reimbursed). They have a referral program for new customers where you each get a VISA gift card for $25. That came right away even though it said it takes two months???

Also check for any corporate discounts. Husband's company get 25% off!!!

I had sprint and lived in markley last year and sprint was definitely the best of the best in my opinion because like the previous posters before me even though it may not be the most popular carrier on campus, it will give you the best reception and signal anywhere and everywhere. When I was in markley, all these cingular, t-mobile, and at&t folks had to either go outside in the stairwell or in the lobby to talk to other people. When I think about it, I think it was quite hilarious seeing like a hundred people in the lobby yapping on the phone to their parents on how their carrier sucks while I got to go back to my room and have no complaints at all

Cvjm -- We live 50 miles west of Ann Arbor, Husband works just north of AA, and Daughter goes to college in Decatur, IL. We have Centennial. No roaming costs, very few dropped calls.
