I was just about two inches away from getting my fifth pullup, so that was pretty frustrating. Other than that, I got two bad stitches on the run. I had to stop and walk/stretch about 5 or 10 steps each time. My lap times were between 1.25 and 1.35 except for the 1/4 I got stitches on, which ran around 2.15, I think.

Anyhow...I've got an LOA from West Point. Do I need to stress out about retaking this to squeeze a few more pullups and shave my run? This week, I've done 6 pullups and had a 6:18 run, so I know I can do better.

I'd have to check....
I'm pretty sure my CFA was
B-BaLL 65 ft
Pull-ups 6
Shuttle run 9.0 sec (wow you ran a 7.1? Nice)
Sit ups 76
Push-ups 48
Mile run: 6:08

I took many informal run throughs of the test before taking it for real, so I was atleast comfortable with the test. I wish I could have done better, but it was one of my best efforts. Having an LOA really helps, because if you pass each event, then they are less likely to critique you against other candidates.

JW, but when is your paperwork deadline for the LOA? Mine is 5 Nov. 2007
I have all paperwork completed, most is updated on my file, but my statements and activities records may still be in the mail. I did fax those though too.

I was surprised with my shuttle run. Over the summer I practiced it and got about a 6.8 on concrete, but today we did it on tile (this gym floor was tile. Not wood. Tile.). My first try was 8.4 as I was very hesitant...but second try I went all out. On my last turn, I slipped to my knees and slid about 6 or 8 feet behind the line. I wonder what my time would've been otherwise?

Over the summer I practiced, but not since June. With school (summer school and now 19 college hours plus a part-time job and the speech team), I haven't had time to work out AT ALL. Since school started in August, I've ran 3 miles, completed about 60 pushups, and maybe 12 pullups. I haven't done situps since last June (I should practice them, but I don't. I know I'll be fine on those).

The only reason I did it in such a rush is because that's all that's left on my USNA and USMA app. The deadline for my LOA is 17 November (it was sent on 18 September).

Everything's in the mail tomorrow! As long as you're postmarked by 5 Nov, you'll be fine. Good call faxing it, though. You reminded me to copy everything before I send it. Thanks :)

My opinion on the B-Ball throw is that you're not far off par.... Have you tried experimenting with/without a cushion? Also worry about how you hold the ball, that makes a difference. I tried palming it, but it works better when you dont. Watch the angle of the ball too, because you dont always get enough force in to the throw at that angle, but you need to have a considerable arc on the throw too. Just experiment with different styles, lean back really far and use alot of core momentum, and make sure you warm up your arm before the event. I threw the basketball standing a bunch of times to loosen and warm up that muscle, but not tire it.

How about this??( I took it 2 months ago, so.. according to my fainted memory..)
BB Throw: 80 something ft
Pull-Ups: 11
Shuttle Run: 8.8?sec
Sit-Ups: 80 somthing
Push-Ups: between 60~70 , not sure.
1 Mile: 5:15??

I can't remember well.. but it was my second test since USMA SLS07.

I have asked my counselor to send the secondary report card as soon as the marking period ends and still need to send my personal statement. Oh, BTW, I have a congressional nomination interview on Dec. 10~~

Yes, I hear that the run is not a huge factor if you're under 8 minutes. They figure you'll be running enough in beast to shorten up that mile time.

I'm in the ending process of applying to the United States Military Academy and I just took the CFA. I think the major weakness within my application was the lack of sports involvement. I've been playing hockey for an intramural team and an organized league because it wasn't offered in my high school. Had my interview with the admissions representative and it went great but she said I would have to score well on my CFA to somewhat make up for the lack of varsity athletics. Below are my final results:
