Teacher Recs should be awesome -
And i am sending the art supplement with a rec letter from my art teacher to HYS, Duke and Rice
Sorry for the overload of information, but i am REALLY REALLY nervous. so what do you think???

Harvard - reach for everyone, you have good chances though
Yale - same as above
Stanford - same as above
CalTech - low reach/match
Duke (Robertson and Angus B Duke Scholarships) - low reach/match
Rice - low reach/match
Clemson (National Scholars Program) - in
Washington and Lee (Johnson Scholarship) - in
Texas A&M (safety, scholarship?) - in
Texas Tech (safety, scholarship?) - in
LSU (safety, scholarship?) - in
Tulsa (Presidential Scholarship?) - in
Alabama (University Fellows Program???) - in

hmmm seems like a ■■■■■… how can you have volleyball and tennis when they are the same season. and cheerleading is a sport… so how can you have 4 varsity sports and with a school with about 40 kids i doubt they all do sports

Probably a freshmen, i’ve been seeing a lot of them making chance thread if “all goes as planned”

no this is real. we play tennis in the spring, volleyball in the fall. and there are 67 kids in my high school. believe it, i am a senior. and cheerleading well, we cheer at the football games and during basketball i only cheer at the guys games. its true. thats a benefit of a small school. i know one senior who does volleyball, cheerleading, tennis, and track. we all play a ton of sports.

buuuuuummmmmppppp

if it is true, dont use LSU as a safety if you want to go to a LA school

use Tulane

it is ranked 50th nationally in all schools, and it is an amazing school, plus you would probably get almost a free ride
.
as for the others, you are probably getting in to at least 1-2 of the best schools in america, especially if ur essay doesnt just suck

is tulane really that good? i hadnt considered it before

LOL…You’ve taken the hardest schedule available…in a class of 11! How could you not? How many people do you have in your Calc BC class, or is that a self study?

Anyway, joking aside, the bottom line is that you have outstanding stats, and I’m sure that at the very least, you’ll get into a few top schools. The fact that you’ve self studied APs shows your dedication to higher learning despite the limitations that you no doubt face in such a small school. Plus, you’ve got a 36 and a 2350, what’s not to like. And it looks like you have a slew of impressive awards and ECs.

Harvard - reach for everyone, but you’ve got as good of a shot as anyone
Yale - same
Stanford - same
CalTech -same
Duke (Robertson and Angus B Duke Scholarships) - in, high match
Rice - in, mid-high match
Clemson (National Scholars Program) - in (I don’t know anything about the scholarships)
Washington and Lee (Johnson Scholarship) in
Texas A&M (safety, scholarship?) - in
Texas Tech (safety, scholarship?) - in
LSU (safety, scholarship?) - in
Tulsa (Presidential Scholarship?) - in
Alabama (University Fellows Program???) - in

My guess is that you’ll get scholarships at most of them because you truly are an outstanding applicant, and I have no idea why everyone around you is shooting down your chances.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/602605-chance-small-town-rural-kid-washu-ed-notre-dame.html

well actually there are three ppl in my BC class (used to be 4 but one wouldnt do the homework and dropped down to AB). I just wish my school offered spanish:(

bumpity bump bump

dont worry, there are 3 people in my algebra 3/math 101-112 dual enrollment class

and as far as tulane goes, yes it is very good

they also have a lot of opportunites for people that love to help others, since they are still rebuilding after katrina

i would give it a shot, check it out on the web if anything

tulane would be good, but i dont think that they have mechanical engineeering, which is what i am gonna major in. in addition to history.

I think that all of the schools on your list are very realistic, you can get into all of them, depending on what admissions thinks about you as a person (it’s very random). You have a shot at really any school in the nation. Congrats, you’re awesome! :)

“the adults are telling me i have no shot at any HYS schools, or any big scholarships what so ever.”

they must be insane. you could get into any school out there

Anyone that says you have no chance is completely wrong. Also, for things like the AMC, you should probably put your actual score instead of your rank for your school, since the score itself will say more than the rank in your school (especially considering its size). The fact that you’ve done so well with what you have is going to look great in the eyes of all the colleges you apply to.

thanks! i’ll definitely do that.

Too long, I just looked at your community service list, it’s too spread out, you’d want to have dedicate all your team to one place or two, three at most…I don’t think volunteering hours count if you add them up like that but if they do, colleges will just know that you did a bunch of random projects instead of focusing on one mainstream area. According to my quick glimpse over your academics, everything looks fine so you should shoot high. Here’s some advice, making a really long thread turns people off, one way to make it shorter is to just post the things that are significant to you like the main extra curriculars such as basketball or something.

yeah, i figured that my community service would hurt me. Sorry for the really long post. i didnt know what all to include. But the reason for my weird community service and ecs was that my school kept cutting off programs after 1 year. So i couldnt do them for multiple years. i got very frustrated.

thanks for chancing me!

ur stats r really good! im not too sure abt the scholarships. i got into tulane with a 20k scholarship b.c of my uw gpa was > than 2.7. maybe u might want to give it a try?
