Chance a Junior With Weak EC's for a Few "selective" schools

I've chosen my schools based off the actuarial profession and have come across some that really fit me. I think that I have a good chance at getting into a couple of the selective schools but I'm nervous about being out-of-state and not having a lot of EC's.

I'm going to apply to:
University of Illinois- Urbana (Mother is an alum)
Illinois State University (Safety. Father is an alum)
University of Wisconsin- Madison
University of Michigan - Ann Arbor
Ohio State University

Illinois Resident
African - American Male

GPA on a 4.0 scale: First Semester Junior year: 4.45/Cumulative :4.46
(I have gotten straight A's since freshmen year. I think that concerns my weighted/unweighted GPA which I don't know)

Rank: 1/73 (Have been ranked #1 since freshmen year)

ACT: 32/11 Essay

Junior Year Classes:
Pre-Calculus Honors
Chemistry Honors
U.S. History AP
Spanish 3
Religion 3
Health/Gym
English Lang & Comp AP
(These are all the AP and honors classes available and I will take all that are available next year)

Most Likely Senior Year:
Calculus AP
Physics AP
Law & Gov/Econ
Spanish 4 AP
Religion 4
Psychology/Intro. Computers
English Lit & Comp AP

EC's :(
World Language Club (2 years)
NHS (2 years)
NEHS (2 years)
100+ Service Hours

I tutor sophomores, juniors, and seniors in Geometry and Pre-Cal and I really enjoy it. I feel it's the only EC that I can actually talk about in an essay as a passion and relate it to my career.

Should I take any leadership positions in my clubs to boost my chances.

I'm mainly concerned with getting into Michigan, Wisconsin, or Ohio. I think I'm pretty much in at UIUC but I may not be.

I really would not be surprised if you got in everywhere.

you’ll get into all of them.

Public schools really only care about grades and test scores, and you are good in both of those. I say in everywhere, don’t worry.

bump. any help would be appreciated. I’m going to start visiting this colleges in march and i don’t want to waste my time spending money to visit places I won’t have a chance at

You have a really good chance at all of them. I thought that when you said “selective” you were going to start pulling ivies on us.

oh my bad. I wanted to emphasize selective as a distinction from being “highly selective”

No no, your fine. But yeah, I would say you have a really good shot at the colleges you listed. I also would like to wish you the best of luck with these next few years.

Good Luck! You look like a good candidate at those schools. Of those school’s I’d suggest you consider IL State & UW-Madison strongly since they are CAE schools.
