Dad is a professor
Sister is a current student (not really legacy, I know)

Your dad is a professor at Stanford and your sister goes there? That’s quite a legacy, considering your SAT’s and EC’s you stand a pretty good chance. 8.5/10

Agree with Kittyhawk. You’re not a legacy through your sister, but no matter, Stanford is by far the least generous to legacies of any top college. This will be about your dad calling in favors. You have the stats so with a little pull it looks good.

If your dad is a professor and your sister is a current student, you are basically a shoo-in. I think I only know of one person who was not accepted to the school that their parent(s) taught at.

I think you have a very good chance, with your 800’s. Your sister doesn’t count, it needs to be a parent i believe, but i’m sure having a parent working there may help a LOT… Your parent could definitely put in a word. If you stil have a year, try a bit more extra curriculars, and maybe some more volunteering (looks pretty good)…

Just make your essay and application stand out, with good recommendations…
You have a good chance, and if not Stanford, i’m sure your a shoo in for many top private colleges not necessarily in the elitist belt.
