I'm a California resident who just finished junior year with a cum. GPA of 3.5 (UC GPA of 3.42 -.-). My sophomore year was largely the death of me due to the horrible GPA of 3.13 and my junior year GPA was a 4.15 (will this GPA jump help me?). The main reason I had a poor sophomore year was because I went through multiple ear surgeries that year due to a large loss of hearing. I really hate using this as an excuse but I'm going to focus how I worked to overcome it. My SAT score was an 1820 (640 cr, 630 m, 550 w) and I plan on retaking (shooting for a 1900+). My EC's aren't too bad. In school I have participated in track, student government, Link Crew, AP stats competition team, math club, interact club, and marching band. Outside of school I've tutored in a summer algebra institute for African Americans (sponsored by CSUB and UCLA), I've been first chair in my county's honor band for the past 2 years, and I volunteered at the Boys & Girls club sophomore year. I have already organized my college list into a somewhat orderly fashion but I'm still not sure if I stand a chance at these schools because of my low GPA.

Super reach: Cal Poly SLO (yeah not really expecting acceptance...)
High reach: UCSB
Reach: UCD, Pepperdine (I really want to know if I even stand a chance at these schools
Match (hopefully): UCSC (yeah personally this is where I really want to go so I hope (desperately) that I can get in)
Safeties: SFSU, SJSU, UOregon, and CSULB
