I am a junior in high school with substandard academia (for Ivy League schools anyway.)

North Texas; $10,000 household income; first generation high school graduate; white

This really isn't a chance thread, since I haven't gotten into college yet, but advice?

If I go to Tarrant County College, Baylor, UNT, or UT Arlington; what are some tips to gain admission to a top tier university?

I want to be a congressman, an attorney, an economist, or something of the sort.

I know Princeton does not accept transfers, and I know Stanford has a transfer acceptance rate of less than two percent, but they do accept. What do I have to do to transfer to Harvard, Yale, MIT, Berkeley, or a school of that magnitude?

UNT or UTA would seem like your best bets, or Tech. Sorry for suggesting that, but it is what it is…

Keep in mind that it will be a struggle to have excellent grades in college. I’ve managed to do a lot better academically in college than high school, but I’ve given up drinking and smoking and most of my former social life in order to do so.

Avoid Big 12 schools aside from Tech, because you don’t want “academic rigor” if you’re just trying to posture yourself with good grades in order to transfer somewhere better…most of the state schools will be “hard” as opposed to private schools which are typically “easy.” And if you want to get into politics, you might give Baylor a second look and stay away from some of the schools you listed, namely Berkeley.
