Also applying to:
UC Berkeley, UT-Austin, Ohio State.

match 10char

Probably in. Is UT your top choice?

The order for me is:
Berkeley (If admitted and money works out right)
Michigan
Texas
Ohio State (Merit Scholarships)
Alabama (Full-Ride)

Match. But do not count on too much money from Cal or Michigan.

Match. If you could improve your english/writing score on your ACT/SAT that’d help tremendously. I had the same issue… stupid grammar.

Out of curiosity, what college are you applying for (CoE, LSA, etc)?

Match for LSA. High match for CoE.
your GPA is almost right at the 50% for UMich but below average for CoE. Your ACT is at 75% for UMich but just above average for CoE.

I will apply for LSA as my major is Econ/PoliSci.

Money will obviously be an issue with any top tier university. Hoping to get some scholarships from my ECs

You may be able to get some aid, but it would be hard to get large scholarship with these scores.

It is highly unlikely you will receive merit scholarships. Your ECs are very solid, but nothing overly outstanding (imo). You have a strong app, but only a few lucky students get merit money from UM.

UT-Austin is a strong school - I wouldn’t pay a huge premium (100k+) to go to Cal or Mich.

I like Michigan because half of my family actually lives in Ann Arbor/Detroit, plus my cousin works at the U of M hospital. It provides a sort of In-State feel.

Should I include that my cousin works in the hospital at the school in my app?

I would not mention your cousin in your application unless it is highly relevant to topic.

Since you’re in the south, care to tell us if you know anyone with your numbers actually taking 'Bama up on their full rides? Also, is UT still the top ticket with top grads from your area? I read the 10% thing has deteriorated its standing.

I don’t know anyone who is taking the Alabama full rides because most of the people at my school, a charter school, are going to school for nursing and science. These students would prefer schools like Univ. of Texas at Dallas, Arlington, or similar close to home schools.

As a Longhorn fan I would say that UT is still a top-teir school in Texas, probably just behind Rice in the state. Of course I’m sure that 50% of the state would say the same thing about Texas A&M.
