Chance me for these schools? I really need help narrowing down my list.
I hope to apply as a communications major, or any major closest to writing.
: Ithaca college, Rutgers, Syracuse, BU, UC Berkeley, UCLA, NYU, BC, Chicago, Cornell, Northwestern, Princeton, Stanford, Brown, Duke, Columbia, Penn, UNC Chapel Hill, WashU, Wisconsin, Michigan
(I'm considering ED to either Brown or Northwestern.)

Please suggest more schools that are not listed here. Schools with strong communications major are welcomed.

Thank you!
I'll chance you back :)

Safeties: Ithaca, Rutgers, Syracuse, BU, Wisconsin
Low Matches: BC, UCLA, Michigan
Matches: NYU, UNC Chapel Hill
High Matches: UCB, Chicago, Cornell, Northwestern, Duke, WashU
Low Reach/Reach: Brown, Columbia, Penn, Princeton, Stanford

BU and Tufts both have very good communications (I believe so, not too sure, though!)

Ivies are kind of a reach for everyone but honestly I don’t know what more you could possibly do. you have as good of a chance as any competitive applicant. write a creative admissions essay

good luck!

Good gpa with a good SAT score! Also, good athletics and leadership. You have a shot for all the schools you listed, the ivy leagues maybe. But, İ think you’ll get into Brown or Northwestern if you ED. İ plan to do ED as well! Best of luck! Chance me back?

You are more competitive than me in some respects and i plan on applying to all the top tier schools. good luck to both of us then

kuzon988, bailey27, sergiok, WOOPWOOP2017

Thanks! I chanced you back.

Anyone else?

Excellent GPA and test scores. Your academics will push you over enough, but add on to it your EC’s, and I think you will get in for sure. Also, you have a very good plan laid out with having back-up schools in case a primary one doesn’t fall in place for you. Kudos to you for that.

Can you please chance mine? I would appreciate it very much. Good luck to you!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1537770-what-my-chances.html</a></p>

I think you should be good in most of these, your test scores are great which will help you a lot.

The only thing I have to say is that all ivies are reaches because they’ll reject even the most qualified applicants such as your self. You have a great chance at all of these schools. And to add George Washington has an amazing communications program so that does bc,Emerson, and university of Southern California. Chance back http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1535720-chances-cornell-johns-hopkins-tufts-vanderbilt.html</a></p>

Above average ECs paired with nice academics. Northwestern ED imo would be a great option, my sibling goes there, and I know their journalism school is very strong. I’m not very familiar with the communication major as a whole, but I do recommend NU! Be cautious of financial aid as an international student through!

Could you please chance me?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1537738-my-one-only-chance-thread-need-advice-will-chance-back-penn-ed-hyp-etc.html</a></p>

Your stats are impressive but so many kids have equal to superior qualifications as you. AO’s at highly selective schools receive thousands of highly gifted student applicants every year and sadly most don’t get accepted because competition is so fierce. Schools such as Ivy’s and other highly selective privates are holistic in their judgement criteria. Do some soul searching and determine what really makes you clearly stand out from the vast talent pool, something unique only to you. Your essay is critical so make sure its well thought out and follow each schools instructions to the ‘T’. I have seen many Internationals with superior qualifications not get into an Ivy but got into a smaller LAC. You may have a better chance with the top state flagships schools such as UCLA, Cal, Michigan etc. Ivies are a crapshoot for everyone. Also if finances are not an issue, find a few schools you consider tops on your list and visit. Try to schedule a meeting with an AO, if possible, WASHU is good at meeting potential students and if one school stands out the most apply ED, your chances of acceptance do improve greatly. Good Luck!

Thank you everyone for your answers! Thank you for additional school suggestions and well thought-out answers!

Any more advice is welcome. I’ll chance back.

Bump! Any more suggestions?
I’ll chance back.

your stats look really good (especially the ecs), but as some other people have said already, being an international student will mean that you’re up against a tough and competitive applicant pool. that being said, I think that the Ivies, chicago, northwestern, and duke will be reaches (like they are for any qualified applicant), the rest are between high match and low match/safeties. you have a great shot at many of these schools, but it seems like you have quite a long list right now. maybe consider narrowing it down to the schools that you think will offer you the most. don’t apply to a school simply because of the prestige. believe it or not the most prestigious schools might not always be the best fit for some individuals. figure out what you are most passionate about then select schools that will allow you to foster this passion

Thank you, I chanced you back!

Would anyone like to give me more advice? I’m willing to chance back. :)

Nice stats! I think you’re competitive for all of those schools! For ED, do you want to go to Brown or Northwestern more? Brown is definitely more competitive so I’d go for that since I think you have a pretty good chance at Northwestern on its own. With solid essays, I think the colleges will love you! For narrowing down your colleges, look more into what each offers and see whether you’d really like to go there (take into account of location, school size, type of kids, weather, whatever it may be). For example, I thought UPenn was great for academics, but when I visited, I didn’t like how the area was kind of ghetto and sketchy. VTech has a beautiful campus, but it rained to the point of almost flooding like ALLLLLLL the time (since it’s in a valley).

Chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1540450-chance-me-cornell.html#post16268504</a></p>

I think you’ll be a match to almost all of these school except Ivies, Chicago, and Stanford. I think you are a match for Northwestern ED and low reach to brown
Thanks

To be honest, I am not familiar with schools in Texas but based on your stats, I think the schools you’ve mentioned above are all reach schools. I would try retaking your ACT to boost your stats up. Remember, quantitative scores are very important in college application. I think you have decent EC’s, what major are you considering? If you show your interest in your prospective major by participating in those activities, your application will be more solid. Not to mention writing a great essay!
