Chance an American student for McGill? (+ some questions)

Current American high school junior looking to major in computer science and interested in McGill as a good option across the border. Stats below:

GPA: 3.7 unweighted with upward trend and lots of AP/honors classes.
Freshman year GPA: 3.53 unweighted
Sophomore year GPA: 3.83 unweighted
Junior year GPA: Anywhere from 3.7 to 3.9 unweighted

Weighted GPA: 4.2 (counting freshman year; not counting it would be around 4.6)

I gathered from a similar thread I made about UToronto that Canadian universities don’t consider freshman year, so that’s why I’m posting stats with and without it.

ACT score: 36

Course rigor: 7 APs and 6 honors classes in total, including junior year

Math courses taken: Algebra II Honors, Precalculus Honors, AP Calculus AB (currently taking).

Questions:

  1. Will I need to take AP Calculus BC and/or AP Physics next year to be eligible for CS at McGill, or are AP Calc AB and Honors Physics enough?

  2. I got Bs in math freshman and sophomore years, but I’m on track for an A or A- this year in AP Calculus AB. Will this hurt my chances a lot, or will McGill consider my performance in AP Calc AB as sufficient improvement?

  3. McGill is a bit vague on their website about their exact requirements for test scores. Is my ACT sufficient, or do I also need to submit AP tests/SAT subject tests?

Finally, what are my chances?

  1. Actually McGill is very specific about ACT scores. A 36 is sufficient for anywhere.

Minimum requirements vary by program. Computer Science falls under Engineering at McGill.

Ok, first, I think CS falls under Sciences. But this doesn’t really matter as the cutoffs for Sciences and Engineering are near-identical according to the link posted.

So according to the website, I’ll need an A- in “each prerequisite math and science.” Does this disqualify me, as I got a B+ average in Precalculus sophomore year? Or does an A/A- in AP Calculus make up for it?

I think you might want to email the admissions office to double-check for your particular situation.

Ok, I’ll do so eventually. Thanks!
